I can't even imagine where I would be without all the help I have received from Nancy.  No matter what the problem, I could always find helpful information about how to rectify it.  Be it through her blog, her books or the many videos, she always offered new and exciting information along with helpful tips for all kinds of sewing problems. I started watching Sewing With Nancy in the early 1980's.  I never missed a Saturday morning  (my children did not appreciate the fact they were missing some of their beloved cartoons).With coffee and pencil and paper in hand, I was in do- not- disturb mode for thirty wonderful minutes!    The information she could cover in that short amount of time was amazing and I quickly found myself living for each new episode. I am still a fan and pray they do not replace her show, but continue to show reruns for a very long time.  She was by far the best. All the present and future beginner sewist are going to miss out ...

I am so excited that it is Saturday!  I have had a long and extremely tiring week and I am ready to get my house cleaned up and head to my sewing room!  I have several projects either already in progress or waiting patiently to be in progress!

This spring has been all about shirring for me.  It is something I have always wanted to try, but just never had the time when my kids where young.  I have spent this spring trying several ways, and have made several dresses for my daughters and grand-daughters. One of my favorite things to use is the elastic thread you can buy at  http://ctsusa.com/ .  It is a little bit thinner (if you purchase the one marked thinner) then what you can buy in the fabric stores.  It seems to do a better job and not come loose as often.  You can purchase it in white or black.  It also seems to gather tighter then the ones I have bought at the near by stores.

When my children were young, I made almost all of the girls clothes and a lot of my boys.  It was  something I enjoyed, they enjoyed, and I found it relaxed me and helped reduce my stress! After they all grew into adults and moved on with their lives I shifted my interest into other areas.  I began working outside of the house for the first time in many years and found my time taken up with other task.  I sold all of my sewing supplies(something I have regretted over and over, at least a thousand times) thinking that part of my life was over.  I really think that sewing my oldest daughters wedding dress and all but one of her bridesmaid dresses  kind of burned me out and it has taken about 18 years for the bee to sting again, but wow has it stung!!
