Week In Review 9-17-11

This has been a busy and difficult week for me. Despite the fact that I had an allergic reaction to some medication I was given by the doctor and forced to fight that for a couple of days,  I accomplished quite a bit!  I feel that any time I accomplish anything during the work week, outside of waking up and getting myself off to work, is really a great week. I am usually so tired when I get home I do little except sit or nap!

Thursday was the final day of a sew-a-long I have been participating in. Par for the course for me, I finished my project on that day! It could have been worse, I could have been late!

You can read more about my participation in this sew a long by clicking here.  It has been a month long event and I am glad to be finished!

Tonight I came home and decided to try the polymer clay again.  I have been itching to try to make some decorative strait pins.  It is fun to play with this medium, but it is very time consuming and takes a lot of practice and a lot of patience!  Last time I tried to use my kitchen oven and all the things I had created turned a little brown, guess the oven was too hot and over baked them a little bit.  This time I used a toaster oven and they turned out a lot better!

I think they really did turn out very cute.  I like to make a particular pincushion and use them for gifts and I think it would be very nice to coordinate the pins with the cushion.  How cute would that be?  I think I will get another tiny rose mold ( or maybe a couple) and that way I could make more "rose pins" at a time.  This mold only makes 3, so it is pretty slow going.

I also played around with making some flowers and attaching a loop to the back so I can use them as a form of decoration on different projects.  They turned out so-so.

If you have never tried the polymer clay and like to create jewelry, buttons, even cards, I suggest you give it a try.  You will be amazed what kind of creations you can come up with, especially if you have a creative bone.   It is sold at most hobby and craft stores.  Mold Muse has a great selection of molds and I saw online recently where she has added some new ones.  So check it out and get those creative juices flowing!

I hope to be able to find some other colors of clay soon, my local hobby store did not have anything except grey and yellow except in the granite colors and they are a little more stiff and harder to work with.  I will be back with more on this amazing craft when I have more supplies to create with!

Well that is all for now.  Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Happy Sewing
