Monday Quiz About Me 7-23-12

Acting Balanced

Hello! I am joining Heather over at Acting Balanced for this weeks addition of Monday Quiz About Me.  Every week Heather has four questions that she post for all of us to answer plus we each add our own fifth question.  It is a lot of fun and we learn alot about each other.  If you are interested in joining the fun, head on over to Acting Balanced and join us!  I guarantee that you will enjoy it.

Here are this week's five questions:

1. What are your favorite pizza toppings?

2. What is the strangest name you've ever heard for a child?

3. What is the best vacation you've ever gone on?

4. What is your favorite quick summer meal?

5.  My question this week is...Do you ever sleep in or do you always get up with the chickens?

Here are my answers for this week:

1.  I love pepperoni, extra cheese, mushrooms, bell pepper and onion on my pizza and sometimes I have them add some bacon too!  Yum

2.  The strangest name I have ever heard is the names of two little girls that grew up across the street from my mother when she was young.  Their last name was Pigg and their names were Ima and Ura.  I still laugh when I think of Ima Pigg and Ura Pigg.  Their parents had a real sense of humor!  I am sure they had a tough time in school!

3.  In 1984 my family and I ( x-husband and 4 children) set out across the U.S. to attend the Olympics in California.  We were gone for 8 weeks.  We visited Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, St. Louis, Dodge City, several events of the 1984 Olympics, San Diego Zoo and a bunch of other places.  My children were aged 11,9,4 and 2 and at the time it was very exhausting, but I have the most wonderful memories of that time and even today just thinking about it brings smiles, laughter and even some tears.  It was by the far the best vacation ever!

4.  My favorite summer meal that is quick and tasty is a grilled Ribeye steak and a baked potato.  I love it, it is quick, easy and very yummy!

5.  I try to sleep in every once in a while, I have to get up at 4 AM during the school season so during the summer I sleep later than that!  I would like to sleep until 10 or so on some mornings, but I am usually up before 8 and always up by 8:30.  If I sleep later than that I wake up in a panic, don't really know why I do, but it is a terrible way to wake up!

Hope every one has a wonderful Monday!

Keep an open eye for my new Etsy shop, it will be opening soon.(Glo's Crafty Creations)  I will also have a new post up later today with a little preview of some of the items that will be for sale.

Monday Quiz About Me 7-16-12

Acting Balanced

Welcome to Monday Quiz About Me.  I am joining Acting balanced and several other bloggers that get together every Monday and answer the 4 questions Acting Balanced gives us and the one each blogger adds to it.  Five questions in all and the 5th one is constantly changing.  It is a lot of fun, if you are interested in joining us head on over to  Acting Balanced and Monday Quiz About Me.

1. If you could be on a reality tv show which one would you want to be a part of?

2. You have the power to create one law, what would it be?

3. How's your weather today?

4. Other than the country you currently live in, where would you want to live?

5.  My question is ... What is your favorite sport to watch on television and will you watch any of the Olympics this year.

Now, on to my answers:

1.  If I could be on any reality tv show it would have to be Who Do You Think You Are.  I would love to have all the means made available to me to find out about my ancestors.  That would be a dream come true.

2.  If I had the power to create one law, it would be that television news crews must administer some kind of mental assessment before they  interview an eyewitness for a local news broadcast.   Maybe it is because I live in a small southern town, but good grief, I don't know where they find some of the dummies they put on our local news.

3.  The weather here today was wonderful.  Mostly sunny with just a few scattered showers around.

4.  I have to say I love America,  I know it has a lot of problems at the moment, but all in all it is a wonderful country and I am so blessed to have been born here.  BUT, I love Jamaica too, If ever I move out of the country, look for me in Jamaica, that is where I will be.

5.  I love college softball.  I could watch it for hours.  I also love to watch football, especially college.
I may watch some of the Olympics this year,(swimming, volleyball, and gymnastics) but I won't stay glued to the television like I do during the winter Olympics.

Have a wonderful Monday everyone!

Monday Quiz About Me 7-9-2012

Acting Balanced

This week I am joining up with Acting Balanced for the Monday Quiz About Me.  Every week she has 4 questions to answer, plus a 5th question can be added by me.  This is loads of fun, so if you wish to add your blog to the list and join us, visit Acting Balanced and join up!

Here are the questions for this week, plus one of my own.

1. What are two must haves when you go on a road trip?

2. What is your favorite amusement park ride?

3. Post favorite picture from the last six months?

4. What do you (did you) call your grandparents?   If you are a grandparent what do your grandchildren call you?

5.  With record breaking heat in most of the country this summer, what have you been doing to try to beat the heat?

Here are my answers:

1.  My two must haves for a road trip are a cooler filled with ice and bottled water or soft drinks and my Ipod and speaker.

2.  In my younger years I loved all the amusement park rides, but I have to admit that a nice ride on the carousel is about all I can handle now.  Other rides either make me sick, dizzy or both!

3.This is my son, my daughter-n-law and my newest grand-daughter, Harper. She is 4 weeks this Monday(today). She is their first child and my heart sings each time I see them all together! (well my heart sings whenever I see her, but it really sings loud when they are together as a family!

4.  I called my grandmothers ( I never knew either of my grandfathers) Grandmother Land or Campbell.  My grandchildren call me NaNa (nahnah) but my step grandchildren call me GG (Grandmother Gloria).

5.  I don't know what kind of weather you are having, but the heat has been all but unbearable here.  We also have had wind storms, something we never have!  I did not even know you could have such wind without even any rain or lightening!  We spent a week at the beach, other than that, I have pretty much stayed in the house with the airconditioner to beat the heat this summer.  Sure hope this heat wave breaks soon and cooler temps head our way!

Have a wonderful Monday!

Do You Etsy?

I am opening an Etsy store. (YAY)   I really don't know why it has taken me so long.  I have already started placing items in my store, but when I think about the Grand Opening, I start to sweat, get a rapid pulse, and find it difficult to breathe. Hope all this stress end with the opening!  Many things keep me awake at night, just kidding it isn't that bad, but I do think about a lot of different things....Will it be an enjoyable experience?  Will I have many (if any) sells?  Will it be worth the time and effort I have put into it?  What if shipping cost more than I estimate?  What about tax and record keeping?  These are all questions I have running through my head.

Do You Etsy?  If you have an Etsy account please let  me know what you think, either by commenting or sending me an email ( you can  find my email address at the bottom this post)

I am working hard to have several things ready to go on my opening day.  I am starting off slow and will decide what to do from there.  I think I will be ready for the Grand Opening by the end of this month or the first of August.  I will let everyone know when I open.  Hope to see you all there.

My Beach Attitude Is Showing

Something about looking at this picture makes me take a deep breath and relax.  It makes me wish the days of retirement and living at the beach were here now and reminds me of the saying "it's 5 o'clock somewhere"!

Have a great Sunday.

Time At The Beach Does a Heart Good!

Sand Dollar Island
What a great time we had at the beach.  Not only sun, sand and surf, but lots of quality time with the family!  Atlantic Beach and the entire Bogue Sound is beautiful and I must add that it is wonderful having family that lives there, knows the place inside out and has the means to take you (by land or by sea) to all the great places to visit!

We began our visit by going to the Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores .  We all had such a great time and saw so many wonderful and different kinds of aquatic life.  It was very hot and windy the day we visited the aquarium, perfect for indoor activities.

Didn't know I was so crabby did you?

We visited an island in the sound named Sand Dollar Island. It is a place that is only visible when the tide is low.  It was kind of hairy getting there, because of all the sand bars it was difficult  to navigate, but it sure was worth it!  When the island rises it is a sand dollar lovers feast!  We all found sand dollars.  Did you know they are actually dark brown when they are living and only turn white when they die. Learn something new every day!

One of my favorite places in the whole world is Shackleford Banks.  It is an amazing thing to be in the ocean and see horses running on an island.

You can go and spend the entire day on the island if you wish, and tho we didn't spend the entire day, we did spend some time on the island and were lucky enough to see the horses.  They are beautiful creatures!

Why would you want to go to Bogue Sound without visiting Beaufort? It is such a beautiful place, rich with old houses, wonderful pirate history and beautiful boats!

All these places and things were wonderful, but I just don't think you can beat seeing an American flag flying on a fishing rod!  How original is that!  It might make you a redneck, but hey, who cares!

Happy 4th of July, Ya'll!

Thank you Teresa, Bill, Corrie and Meredith for showing us such amazing hospitality!  You always make us feel at home and go out of your way to make sure we have a wonderful experience while visiting you and Atlantic Beach.  Love you all very much!  See you Christmas!

As for all of you, I will see you soon.  I have much to do after returning from vacation, but I will be back sewing and sharing... soon.
